Chuck, Unfortunately, I have not met or heard of Edwin Lobley. Interesting that you mention that your wife's grandmother was from Ft. Sumner, because we have a copy of a telegram that Tahoma wrote asking a friend for money to go to Ft. Sumner in 1953. I'm very eager to hear more aoub Bessie Boren and the things Tahoma gave her.

This sounds like the few stories i had heard about tehoma. Question if you folks are from Tucson did you ever meet Edwin Lobley of Ft Sumner He was from this era and painted with Bessie and Tehoma. We have some works of his that are fantastic including the old Ft Sumner barracks that converted to be the Lucien Maxwell house.
In the late 80's he moved to Tucson and I believe his brother took care of him thats the last I heard.

my wifes grandmother Bessie Boren had some very nice work from tehoma she may have been one of his girlfriends I believe this was around1950-53 in the Toas area. we have inherited one painting and sketch book and my sister in law got the other painting there are some personal correspondence also I believe. I think my wife would be willing to share some insight into what she knows but i'm not positive I'm just out cruising the internet and found this site we live in Abq and Bessie was from Ft Sumner.
anyway if this has interst to anyone contact me via e-mail put tehoma in the subject so i don't delete the e-mail without reading it.

It's so great to hear that kids are still interested in reading real books - and discussing them with others to boot! I hope this story inspires more kids to speak up about what they want to read.
