Another great mention of Quincy Tahoma: The Life and Legacy of a Navajo Artist. New Mexico Magazine, in its September issue had a full page that reproduced a Tahoma painting and the picture of Quincy leaning against the porch column looking quite happy with himself. Continue reading

Quincy Tahoma Book Signing at the Heard Museum

Post by Charnell

A View of the Heard Museum entrance from the Courtyard

I’m back in Virginia after a fantastic week of book signings and presentations with co-author Vera Marie Badertscher in her home state of Arizona.  Vera and I live so far apart geographically that getting together to tell folks about Quincy Tahoma: The Life and Legacy of a Navajo Artist is a rare treat indeed!  This is only the second time we’ve gotten together since the book was published.  (The first was in Santa Fe to kick off the 2011 Indian Market.) Native Peoples Recommends Quincy Tahoma

(post by Vera)

Terrific recommendation from Native Peoples Magazine to choose Quincy Tahoma: The Life and Legacy of a Navajo Artist for holiday gift giving!

Reviewer Debra Utaica Krol says:

“Fans of mid-20th century Native art will want this book on their shelf.  The definitive biography of one of Native America’s towering talents, Navajo painter Quincy Tahoma, contains many images of works not seen in public.  More important, it sets the record straight about Tahoma, a talented, complex man whose talent warred with a susceptibility to alcohol and his attempt to navigate the treacherous middle way between his beloved Dinétah and the wider world beyond.  A rich, textured and honest storyline deftly brings his life and era to life.”

Have you made your holiday gift list yet? If Tahoma’s bio is on your list for your friends and family, you can buy it right on our blog–look over on the right for the Buy Now button.

We also encourage you to support your local independent bookstores,American Indian gift shops and museum gift shops that carry the book. If they don’t have it in stock, ask, and they’ll order it from Schiffer Publishing.

(A reminder–the book will not be sold by Amazon Store or Barnes and Noble because those sellers will not agree to a policy of not advertising at a cut rate. There are copies available through Amazon re-sellers, but they are for sale at full price.)
